Sophia House provides female refugees, migrants and vulnerable women with a supportive and welcoming home in shared accommodation based in Birmingham.
Sophia House was opened in 2018 by its founding partners: the sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd; Our Lady and St Brigid’s Catholic Parish and Father Hudson’s Caritas.
Our Accommodation
Sophia House can accommodate up to 4 women in individual bedrooms and offers:
- Fully furnished property with communal dining, kitchen and living room
- Upstairs bathroom and toilet, with downstairs shower room and toilet
- Garden, drive and garage
- Good transportation links
- Close to local shopping centre, health providers and leisure facilities
Our Support
Father Hudson’s Caritas staff and volunteers from the local parish provide support and guidance for women living at Sophia House, including:
- Empowering the tenants through understanding their rights and responsibilities as tenants.
- Supporting the tenants towards the goal of becoming economically active and independent citizens.
- Social support/mentoring and befriending of tenants.
- Supporting tenants to access healthcare provisions.
- Support in exiting the project/ Move on.
Make a Referral
Our accommodation is charged at the standard housing benefit rate, plus a small contribution towards utilities and service costs. We can offer license agreements for those on the social housing waiting list, or a shorthold tenancy for up to a year.
