Fatima House

Fatima House provides, safe, secure accommodation for vulnerable migrant women in need of protection and support.

The house, which is based in Birmingham offers sanctuary for up to 9 women at a time – through provision of safety and stability, Fatima House offers opportunity for residents to take meaningful steps out of destitution.

Fatima House is a partnership between The Archdiocese of Birmingham, The Columban Missionaries, The Parish of St Anne’s and Father Hudson’s Caritas. Fatima House is a demonstration of what can be achieved when communities come together to support those most in need.

The Columban Missionaries make it their mission to create a warm and nurturing environment for women who are seeking safety. Through various initiatives, the staff and volunteers listen to the voices of these women, offering hope in times of uncertainty.

We also welcome donations of toiletries, household cleaning products and non-perishable food.

A brief History

2024

Fatima House continues to support vulnerable migrants, they meet every Friday to talk about their week. Staff and volunteers remain an important part in building a sense of community.

2022

Fatima House offered accommodation to 9 women, providing a total of 2920 nights of accommodation. Columban Missionaries distributed £7,735 among residents, £4,195 of which was funded by the SVP Warwickshire District. They distributed an estimated £2,500 of food and toiletries.

2020

Fatima House continued their work, around Covid-19, but with safety measures in place. They received numerous grants, which enabled them access to IT equipment, essential items, and a newly transformed outdoor area.

2018

Fatima House celebrated its second anniversary. Partner organisations continued to meet regularly, to ensure the successful running of the project. We continued to support the governance, building and financial management. Columbian Missionaries continued to dedicate their time to the running of the project.

2016

After months of hard work and collaboration with Caritas Archdiocese of Birmingham, The Columbian Missionaries, Parish volunteers, Ourselves and partner organisations Fatima House was officially launched. Nine women were living there, making it almost full.

2015

The Archdiocese were thinking of how they could respond to the continuing refugee crisis. A Birmingham priest offered a parish building, and the Diocese decided to use this property to house homeless asylum seekers.
