Purpose of role:

This is an exciting new role where you will have an opportunity to support and encourage Tabor Living guests to participate in a range of activities. You will be working with our guests from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of need. You will play a role in developing and delivering enjoyable and engaging activities. The activities might include English sessions for those guests whose first language is not English; life skills, board games and quizzes etc. Experience of developing, planning and facilitating activity led sessions is desirable but not essential.


As a volunteer you will:

  • Support the development of group-based activities for Tabor Living guests.
    Support and encourage guests to engage in various activities.
  • Help in setting activities up and clearing away afterwards.
  • Offer support and intervention with our guests to enable and support their personal and social
    development as required.
  • Take responsibility for Health, Safety and Welfare of yourself and others during your shift.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in working face to face with people.
    Enthusiastic and confident.
  • Flexible, creative and imaginative.
  • Some sensitivity to issues relating to homelessness, including mental health issues, drug and alcohol
    abuse (training/awareness will be provided).
  • Ability to respond calmly but quickly in an emergency.
  • Ability to work as a team and take instruction from ‘on-call’ staff.
  • A heart for vulnerable and needy people, and a willingness to be challenged and changed.
