Many people have a favourite charity, often something close to their heart. All charities need funds and many rely on volunteers to carry out their work. All this is crucial to ensure that the good work continues.
Every charity also needs strong and effective governance – a team of trustees with a range of skills and experience from a variety of professional and social backgrounds who can set strategy, scrutinise performance and get to understand the heart and soul of their charity. This ensures that the charity complies with all relevant legislation and regulation and is thus able to continue to serve the needy and vulnerable.

Being a Trustee at Father Hudson’s Caritas has given me a welcomed opportunity to make use of my work and life experiences in an organisation with a strong value base that matches mine. It is a privilege to be involved in this amazing charity that’s making a difference to those in greatest need. The skills and dedication of the staff and hearing from those using our services about the positive impact it makes on their lives is a huge inspiration for me.

I was appointed as a Trustee at FHC in July 2023, primarily due to my experience in Financial Services. Following my retirement I saw this as an opportunity to “keep the grey matter going” but more importantly to be able to give something back.
As a practicing Catholic the Core Services and Values of FHC fit perfectly with my beliefs, and my experience to date has been wholly positive. Although we are a Catholic charity one of the messages that has resonated with me having visited one of our community projects where homelessness and refugees are core to our work, we are there for one faith or none.
As a board we are always looking to recruit new trustees into what I can only describe as a challenging but highly fulfilling role.
