Congratulations to Brushstrokes on winning the Make a Difference Community Group award, we’re thrilled that your hard work has been noticed, celebrated and awarded.
On Monday 18th September some of the team from Brushstrokes excitedly headed to Birmingham Hippodrome to hear the winners of the Make a Difference Awards announced. Earlier in the year they were delighted to hear they were nominated in the Community Group category and were one of four finalists. On the night they expressed that whatever the outcome they were happy that their work had been recognised as making a difference. The judges deciding who the winner was from the four finalists were Ellie Simmonds, Glynn Purnell and Richie Anderson.

When they found out they had won the team posted to Brushstrokes Facebook page ‘Just wow!’. Although at the time they were fairly speechless, Dave sent the below email the following day to Brushstrokes staff, thanking them all for their contribution.

As many of you will know we were shortlisted as finalists for the BBC Radio West Midlands ‘Make a difference Awards’. It was a real honour to be able to be at the ceremony
last night with several of the staff team who started their time at Brushstrokes as Volunteers and our amazing volunteer cook Alwina.
What we do day in day out in providing welcome, helping people learn English or IT skills, supporting people with practical resources, providing arts/crafts/sports and social activities and given much needed specialist advice means so much to those who come to Brushstrokes for support. Daily you show how much you care.
I know you all know what a difference you make, but it’s great to know that others see what you are doing too.
I’m delighted to be able to say that Brushstrokes won the Make a Difference Community Group award last night. You should all be immensely proud of all you do. Thanks for being part of such a great project.
