Origins: Support After Adoption
If you are adopted you may have questions or wonder about your family of origin. As a registered Adoption Support Agency we can help you to find answers and support you with any feelings exploring your past brings up.
Adoption laws mean that people can apply to be put in touch with a relative they were separated from by adoption.
We offer advice, guidance and support to everyone contacting us for our adoption support service.
Information from adoption records
Where your adoption was arranged by Father Hudson’s we can provide you with a portfolio of information from our records. A social worker experienced in adoption will share this with you in person at Father Hudson’s offices, in an online meeting or we can arrange for this to be forwarded on to an adoption social worker near you. There is no charge for this service, although donations are welcome.
Intermediary Services (Adoption Tracing Services)
We can help you trace your family of origin if:
- The adoption was legalised in England and Wales
- If you are a birth relative or adopted adult, or a descendant or other relative of one
- You live in a different country; you do not need to live in England
If we did not arrange the adoption we have to try and identify any agency that may have adoption records.
Even if no records are located we can usually still successfully trace the relative. Contacting other organisations will take longer than accessing our own records.
