Maryvale Community Project has been providing community activities from Maryvale Community Centre in Old Oscott, Birmingham for the last 20 years. A registered Charity, the project is a partnership with Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and Father Hudson’s Caritas. The charity specialises in providing social activities and support for older people and adults with learning disabilities.
What We Offer
We work with our community, developing activities around their needs.
A chance to learn new skills and try new crafts.
We provide opportunities to socialise, develop friendships and reduce isolation.
Tuesday Lunch Club
A weekly lunch club for older people to meet and socialise. We provide a meal and arrange different activities each week.
Sunshine Club
A social club for adults with learning disabilities, offering a chance to socialise and make new friends.
Activities include skittles, karaoke and crafts along with days out to local attractions such as Worcester Cathedral.

Our Sunshine Club recently welcomed Sudden Productions who worked with our group for 6 weeks to develop a play with the group. They build the set, brought props and at the end of the 6 weeks they performed the play to their parents and volunteers.
Hidden talents were found with a blind participant discovering a musical affinity and acting in different roles provided an opportunity to explore and express emotions.
In and Out Club
A social group that provides opportunities for adults with disabilities to learn new crafts and skills, play games and learn new skills.
The group had recently passed a 6 week course on Staying safe in the community and celebrated at a local Toby Carvery.
Celebrating 5 years of Service
Donna from Maryvale recently celebrated 5 years of service and her certificate and voucher were presented along with flowers to show appreciation for her hard work.
She has stepped up in the absence of a project manager to keep clubs and activities running.
