Celebrating Volunteers’ Week
On Wednesday 5th June Tabor Living held a vintage tea party to celebrate and recognise their volunteers. Volunteers were invited to drop in for tea or coffee along with scones or cakes.
Sharon McCall, volunteer coordinator, gave the event a vintage feel with her china tea sets, and a table cloth that had been given to her on her wedding day.
Volunteers who came along were a mix of our corporate and individual volunteers. Lorraine Gregory from CECA Midlands joined up to catch up with the Tabor team and see Tabor’s outside space a year after CECA members transformed it into serene space for guests to enjoy.
Another company, M. Lambe Construction, were involved in the renovation of St Catherine of Siena. They continued supporting Tabor Living and encouraged their staff to volunteer. On the day Shane and Lucy from the company were there enjoying a cup of tea and cake.
It was a great chance for volunteers who work different shifts to meet others, relax and chat.
Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds with varied interests and we try to use their interests when volunteering. Alison will be teaching guests piano, while Abbey has green fingers and enjoys tending to the planters outside.
