We were saddened to hear of the death of Trevor Stockton, and our deepest sympathy goes out to his friends and family. Kevin Caffrey, our former CEO and trustee of Father Hudson's, shares some memories of Trevor below.
I first met Trevor on 20th May 1991 which apart from my wife’s 40th birthday was the day I was interviewed for the post of CEO at Father Hudson’s. As a trustee of the charity Trevor was a member of the interview panel chaired by Bishop Philip Pargeter. Sadly the last time I was with him was last year, on 13 June 2023 when despite clearly not being well he travelled from his home in Wolverhampton to play the music for the Mass of my retirement as a trustee.
So for 32 years I had the privilege and joy of knowing this wonderful man who had so many gifts which in his kindness informed through his inspirational faith, he offered to so many in so many ways. Like me he had a background in social work ranging from direct practice to senior management roles. His particular expertise was in the field of Adult care needs – particularly for people with disabilities and older people and the needs of local communities. As such he was a true God send for FHC and I recall well my early meetings with him and other members of the Adult Care committee which he chaired and which helped develop many of the wonderful services that exist today such as St Joseph’s and St Catherine’s.
With regard to community initiatives I think it fair to say that the Hope Community even project in Heath Town, Wolverhampton was his real passion and he gave many hours in support of the work even in recent times.
We have so much to be thankful for the life of Trevor Stockton – others can and will have many memories of his work in his local parish, his support for CAFOD, his love of music, his care for the environment and much more. To Chris and his children I send my deep condolences and grateful thanks for sharing this this wonderful, kind and loving man with us for so many years. May he rest in peace.
