Nicolas Barré House

Our newest project, Nicolas Barré House, opened in 2023. Nicolas Barré House is a partnership between Brushstrokes Community Project and St John Henry Newman Parish to welcome 5 male refugees, into their first tenancy in St Mary’s Presbytery, Willenhall. The project will focus on helping those who have recently been granted refugee status and need support with settling into their lives in the UK, including finding employment.

We welcome volunteers who can help by collecting donations and creating welcome packs. This team of women helped with cleaning and preparing Nicolas Barré House for the new tenants.

The residents had a conversation with me after the meeting and they were very happy to meet the befrienders and Father Craig. They mentioned that these meetings will help them in their English language and having a native befriender will help them integrate quicker to the UK.
