Foster Care changes Lives
At New Routes Fostering we believe every child deserves a safe, loving home. We care about the children we support and their experience. Two siblings shared the following about their foster family,
They treat us like the best ever; they are quiet and gentle with us, even when we don’t show our love back. They took us to Italy where we really enjoyed ourselves. I am just really happy to have them. T, aged 10
I will never give them up, because they are very kind to us. Even when they are old, I will do my best to love them back. I want to stay forever; I will always drive them around even when I am a policeman. J, aged 9
We organised a wonderful day trip to West Midlands Safari Park for our fostering community in Foster Care Fortnight.
Seventeen adults and eleven children had a fun filled day together. The children were especially excited to see different animals up close, many of which they had only seen on television before. Their smiles, curiosity and excitement made the day extra special.
The trip was a lovely reminder of what fostering is all about – giving children safe, caring and supportive experiences where they can feel happy, valued and able to thrive. Foster carers play an essential role in providing loving and stable homes and we could not be more grateful to our foster carers for their compassion and dedication.
During Foster Care Fortnight I want to celebrate all Foster Carers and continue advocating for fostering, because there is a real and urgent need for more people to step forward. Fostering truly changes lives - not only for children and young people, but for everyone involved.
Across the UK there is a shortage of foster carers, with thousands of children waiting for homes. By becoming a foster carer you can make a real difference to a child’s life.
