Vote of confidence from the Mayor of Coleshill

Jimmy and mayor

Coleshill’s Mayor, Cllr Sue Wallace, has chosen Father Hudson’s Care as the Mayor’s charity due to our ongoing work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

This exciting news means that our work will benefit from fundraising events held in the town and helps deepen our ties with the community we have called home since 1902. Cllr Wallace said, “The length of time Father Hudson’s has worked in our community is very important. We are very proud to have Father Hudson’s Care established locally in Coleshill and to honour the work of Father George Hudson.”

She went on to praise how our work has grown from our early roots supporting Catholic children in Coleshill, to develop services that support a wide range of people in many different areas and communities. She said, “The range of work and people whose lives are enhanced by that work – from newborn babies to the elderly – it covers everything. The work and care of Father Hudson’s spans all things, from women who have fallen on hard times, refugees and migrants, children and the care for older people at St Joseph’s. It sees people through their lives.

“I feel a personal connection to Father Hudson’s and I am so grateful for the work they do in Coleshill and further afield. I wanted to do something in my own way to say thank you.”

Cllr Wallace cuts the ribbon at St Vincent's HouseOn Saturday 25 March, the Coleshill Town Band will put on an evening of music at the 2017 Mayoral Band Concert. Taking place at the Town Hall, the evening will raise funds for our work. Tickets cost £8, or £6 for concessions, and are available from Coleshill Library, the Town Hall or Gascoignes Funeral Directors. More information can be found on the Coleshill Town Council website

Father Hudson’s Care is grateful to Cllr Wallace for her ongoing support. From opening St Vincent’s House supported living apartments, to attending the Annual Fundraising Ball, financial support and much more between, her support for our work is inspiring and greatly appreciated.
