Thank you, Tony Broom

Tony Broom

Kevin Caffrey writes:

“As chair of trustees of Father Hudson’s Care and on behalf of the Board and our staff I extend a huge thank you and appreciation to Tony Broom who retired from the Board in March following almost 22 years as a Trustee of the Society. Tony’s expertise is in finance and accounting and over the years he has made an enormous contribution in this crucial area with positive impact across all of our work. Sustained by his personal faith and his commitment to the social care mission of our Church he has been an enormous asset. During his tenure of office, Tony has held various positions including Vice-Chair of the Board, Chair of the Finance and Support Services Committee, Chair of the Investment Committee, Member of the Pensions Committee and Member of the Adoption and Fostering Panels. It was also during his tenure that the major site development programme took place in Coleshill, resulting in the range of modern care services that exist today along with the expansion of our community projects throughout the Diocese. Tony’s advice and guidance in achieving these developments has been invaluable. Remarkably, however, Tony did not restrict his time and commitment to Father Hudson’s Care alone but also to supporting a number of Diocesan activities, including the Oscott Board and Newman University./media/news/library/bernard-tony-kevin.jpg

“At the June meeting of the Father Hudson’s Board, in the presence of Archbishop Bernard Longley, we took the opportunity to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to Tony for his dedication and commitment over the years. It was also announced that, already a Knight of St Gregory, he has been elevated to the positon of Knight Commander by the Holy See in recognition of the tremendous voluntary contribution he has made. This award is to be presented to Tony by Archbishop Bernard at a special Mass to be held in St Philomena’s Chapel in Father Hudson’s Head Office, St George’s House, in September.

“So, thank you Tony for your generosity and commitment, especially to the work of Father Hudson’s Care – we will miss you. Thank you also to Bridget and your family.”
