HS2 volunteers spruce up St Joseph's garden

HS2 volunteers

On 21 March, a 12-strong team of corporate volunteers from HS2’s Snow Hill office came to St Joseph’s Care Home, Coleshill, to help improve the garden. The activity was organised by Sally Scattergood, of St Joseph’s, and Christina Nijjar, of environmental charity Groundwork West Midlands.

During an action-packed day, the volunteers worked on the chicken coop (to the delight of St Joseph’s feathered residents!), weeded the beds, gave a lick of paint to the benches and trellises, edged the lawns and took a jet washer to the flagstones. This spring clean comes just in time for the better weather, and will make a real difference to residents of the 59-bed care home.

St Joseph’s care home specialises in caring for older people, particularly those living with dementia. Many people call it home, but it is also a place where people can take respite breaks. As well as ensuring the people living there are well cared for, St Joseph’s offers a rich and stimulating environment with regular activities and special events.
