Festivities and fundraising at 113th Annual Ball

Table atmosphere

A great night was had by all at the 113th Annual Fundraising Ball. Held on 18 February at the National Conference Centre near Birmingham, the event drew guests from across the diocese to enjoy a night of dinner and dancing in aid of charity. Staff, Trustees, service users and volunteers joined with local business people, supporters, the clergy and members of the public.

While the final figure is still to be confirmed, early figures indicate that this is likely to be a record-breaking year!

This year’s event raised funds for two of Father Hudson’s projects, New Routes Fostering and Young at Heart. The proceeds will be used by New Routes Fostering to develop health and educational opportunities for the children and young people in their care. And it will help sustain Young at Heart’s work with vulnerable and isolated older people in North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Pez Anson Photography returned to take photos of guests which they could then purchase on the night, with Pez donating his proceeds to the fundraising total. Volunteer photographer Martyn Adams also attended to capture action shots from the evening.

New for this year was a silent auction, which proved to be a hit, as well as the always popular raffle and tombola. Prizes up for grabs included vintage wine, rugs, toiletry hampers and chocolates. There were also hotel breaks, vouchers, a bicycle and tickets to the Para Athletics at the Olympic Stadium.

After dinner, local band The Marmites got the dancefloor jumping to a variety of hits from across the decades. Once the live music ended, a DJ set took the event on into the small hours.

The Ball Committee wishes to thank everyone who supported the night by donating prizes, sponsoring the event or donating online, and those who came along and helped make the Ball a great success. We look forward to seeing you there next year.
