COVID-19 Update from Father Hudsons Care

Family honour Sky's memory

Zena Wedgwood, a Senior Family Support Worker, has shared an update from one of the families she works with. Zena writes:

Eva is one of my students that I work with at St John Fisher Catholic College in Newcastle-Under-Lyme. Eva is currently in Year 10. She is a model student with a great future ahead of her.

Sadly, her older sister Sky died in November 2019. As you can imagine this brought tremendous grief and turmoil to all of the family. The family continue to work hard in honour of Sky’s legacy and raise awareness and thanks to all the services that Supported Sky through her journey.

One particular service that remained of great support to Sky was ‘Changes Well-being’ who are based in Stoke on Trent. Sky gained a lot of help and support from this service, and then went on to help others within changes, offering Peer Support to others who faced difficulties in their lives. Changes were of great benefit to her, and the family hold them very dearly in their thoughts.

Very recently Eva’s mum Jo, Eva and Sky’s best friend Freya took part in a Dance Troop competition at Southport Pleasure land, in honour of Sky and to raise money for Changes well-being. They came fourth out of thirteen dance groups and in total all the groups raised £10,000!

Mum, Eva and Freya raised £1000 of this money and of course donated all of this to Changes Wellbeing!

Congratulations to you all, what an amazing thing to do.

I am sure you will agree this was an amazing achievement and a commendable thing to do!

Thanks to Eva, Mum and Freya for allowing us to share this fabulous story!
