COVID-19 Update from Father Hudsons Care

Donations needed for new homelessness project

Caretakers House

We are appealing for donations to support a new initiative at Tabor House which will add an extra level of support to people experiencing homelessness.

Tabor House is launching Caretakers House – a move-on project to support guests as they prepare to make the move to their own accommodation.

Caretakers House will offer accommodation where people can gain become more independence, while still being able to access support from Tabor House. Guests will say there for up to three months while they secure their own accommodation. All guests at Caretakers House will have been rough sleepers that have had support at Tabor House and are now ready for the next steps to more independent living. Staff and volunteers from Tabor House will keep in touch with them daily as they begin the next stage of their lives.

/media/news/library/caretakers-house---lounge.jpgWith three bedrooms, shared kitchen and living areas, and a big garden, it will support guests to begin the transition from living with others at Tabor House to having a place of their own. It is located close to Tabor House, so guests will remain in a familiar area where they can still access the support they need.

We are appealing for essential household items so the house can open, and the first people can move in in time for Christmas. We are in need of bedroom furniture, bedding, and towels, so each guest will have the necessary supplies when they move in. We also need items for the shared spaces including a microwave, fridge-freezer, tables and chairs, bins, cooking utensils, cleaning products and more.

Caretakers House is funded by The Edward Cadbury Charitable Trust, with support from Friel Homes. It is a partnership project between Father Hudson’s Care and iShelter.
