Day Service rises to fundraising challenge

The Olympians

Over the summer, staff and clients from St Catherine’s Day Service took part in a series of fundraising events after managers Helen Anson and Karen McPherson challenged them to raise as much money for charity as they could.

Not ones to shrink from a challenge, staff and service users took part in several sponsored walks wearing fancy dress, a sponsored silence and other events to show that they had what it takes to bring in the pennies.

One group walked around Coleshill in their wonderful costumes, carrying collection tins and buckets to collect more donations on the way.

The teams’ hard work has paid off brilliantly and, so far, they have collectively raised more than £850 for their chosen causes.

Charities that will benefit from their efforts are the National Autistic Society, Epilepsy Research UK and Cancer Research UK. These causes are close to their hearts as many people at the Day Service know someone who has been affected by one or more of the conditions.

They also raised money for St Catherine’s Day Service itself, knowing first-hand what a difference it makes to the lives of the people who attend.

Anyone wishing to sponsor the teams can still do so on their fundraising pages:

Huge congratulations to all those who took part!
