Volunteering for Father Hudson’s Care/media/getinvolved/library/bernard-and-p-copy.jpg

We are greatly indebted to the many people who volunteer their time to help others. Across Father Hudson’s Care, volunteers support people to live independently, enhance their quality of life, complement the work of our staff, help out at events and raise funds to support our work.

Volunteering is a great way to meet people, learn or develop skills, enhance someone’s quality of life, use your interests to support others and give back to your community. Volunteers make a real difference to people in need.

Find out more about our volunteering opportunities:

Community projects – Father Hudson’s Care works with partner projects across the Archdiocese of Birmingham, all of whom welcome volunteers. This could be supporting asylum seeking women in Birmingham, helping at Brushstrokes’ Community Café in Smethwick, supporting disadvantaged young people in Wolverhampton and much more.

Tabor House, Birmingham – providing hospitality and mentoring, over 100 volunteers give their time at Tabor House to help homeless men and women take steps towards finding more permanent accommodation.

/media/getinvolved/library/volunteering.jpgYoung at Heart, North Staffordshire – working with older people experiencing isolation, Young at Heart is reliant on volunteers who help at lunch and social clubs, offer at-home befriending, support with gardening, and help on trips out.

Parishes and schools – Priests, parishioners and school staff volunteer their time to organise collections, Good Shepherd Masses and fundraising events.

Many take part in our annual fundraising appeals, while others hold ad hoc events to support our work.

If your school or parish would like to get involved with our work, please contact the  School and Parish Engagement Officer in your area:

Adult Care and Head Office, Coleshill – volunteers assist with driving tasks, promote our work in the local community and help residents of St Joseph’s, St Vincent’s and St Catherine’s to enjoy life to the full.

New Routes Fostering – working with our fostering team, volunteer mentors support children and young people to gain confidence and learning support volunteers help with their academic achievements.

Annual Fundraising Ball – for more than a century, the volunteer Ball Committee has organised an annual fundraising ball in favour of our work, and more recently parishes have got involved by organising groups to go along. For more information about helping at the Annual Fundraising Ball, please contact fundraising@fatherhudsons.org.uk.

If you would like to volunteer for us in another capacity, we welcome your ideas and interest.
