Organising events

We look forward to hearing from those who are interested in organising a fundraising event on behalf of Father Hudson’s Care; whether it is a small, low-key event or a large one, we appreciate all your efforts and thank you for your support.

/media/getinvolved/library/organising_events.jpgThere are many ways you can raise funds, but if you need some inspiration, here are a few events you may wish to consider:

  • Bring and buy sale
  • Car wash
  • Coffee morning
  • Disco
  • Garage sale
  • Promise auction
  • Skittles night
  • Sponsored walk, run or bike ride
  • Tombola
  • And many other ways besides!

When planning any fundraising event, whether big or small, planning is crucial to help everything go well and to minimise the chances of anything going wrong. Here are a few hints and tips to help:

  • Plan your event well in advance
  • Risk assess what could go wrong and plan whatever steps you can to avoid these things happening; make sure you have contingency plans in place should anything happen
  • Take care when choosing the date to make sure it doesn’t clash with another local or national event
  • Make a list of others who can help and get them involved at the early stages
  • When choosing a venue, bear in mind that a smaller event at home may not raise as much as a larger event, but if you have to pay to hire a larger venue the event may be less profitable
  • Make sure that you will raise enough to cover any costs before committing yourself to a financial outlay; if you can obtain sponsorship for your costs then everything raised will go towards your target
  • If you are offering prizes, ask local businesses for donations to save you having to buy them yourself
  • Enrol plenty of helpers to sell tickets and publicise the event beforehand as well as people to help out on the day
  • Make sure your event is well publicised.

However you choose to fundraise, we can support you with fundraising advice, guidance on holding small or large events, and fundraising materials and posters or leaflets to promote your event. We may also be able to advertise your event on our website and social media pages.

/media/getinvolved/library/red-house-farm.jpgRed House Farm Garden and Nursery

Every year, Maureen Weaver from Redditch opens her beautiful half-acre kitchen garden as part of the National Garden Scheme, which raises money for charities. We very much appreciate the efforts of Mrs Weaver in creating a tranquil, welcoming place and for donating proceeds to Father Hudson’s Care.

Visitors can follow the winding paths to see a flourishing garden that is carefully planned to display an array of colour and beauty all year round.

Situated in the grounds of an eighteenth century farmhouse, Red House Farm also boasts a nursery offering a wide range of plants for sale.

If you would like visit, her garden at Red House Farm, Flying Horse Lane, Bradley Green, Redditch, Worcestershire B96 6OT is open to anybody and you will be very welcome.
