Transition Event 2018

Transition Event Midlands 2018

17 May 2018

We are proud to be taking part in the Midlands' Transition Event, 2018, at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The event helps young people with disabilities, their parents and carers to plan for their future. It includes a conference, workshops and exhibition from local and national organisations. It will cover many topics around transition, including education, health and care plans, housing, education, social services and much more.

Karen McPherson, manager of St Catherine's Day Service, and Helen Anson, manager of St Catherine's Bungalows, will be taking part, ready to tell you all about the empowering, meaningul and dignified care available from Father Hudson's adult care services.

The event is hosted by My Family Our Needs, which says:

“The full programme has interactive workshops to help you delve into subjects, and a one-to-one parent zone where you can discuss questions on a more personal level with our experts. There is also a packed exhibition of organisations offering local and national services. These exhibitors are selected to enhance your day and help you to find suitable products and services to meet your specific requirements.

“This year we have a new venue for The Transition Event Midlands, The Ricoh Arena. Home to Premiership Rugby team Wasps and Coventry City Football Club, and we will be offering stadium tours for pre-booked school groups. Also new for 2018 are workshops for young people from Supported Loving, offering sex and relationship advice.

“The Transition Event aims to meet the needs of young people and those who support them. It attracts delegates from across England to share expertise, find solutions and help support disabled teenagers into adulthood. Attendees include parents, teachers and practitioners supporting disabled young adults and young adults themselves.”

If you are looking for more information around choices available for disabled young people as they move into adulthood, please come along and find out more. We look forward to seeing you there.
