Tabor House - Volunteer open evening

Tabor House open evening 2019

02 October 2019

Tabor House, Birmingham’s permanent night shelter, is looking for volunteers.

Hospitality volunteers provide a safe and welcoming environment for guests. The work involves preparing meals, getting beds ready for new guests, cleaning, and taking part in activities. Hospitality volunteers play a vital role in helping guests feel comfortable and welcome after time spent on the street.

Volunteer mentors support guests to take back control of their lives and move on. Working on a one-to-one basis with guests, mentors support them to develop and achieve a development plan that works towards their individual goals.

If you can help people experiencing homelessness to turn their lives around, we would love to hear from you. We are particularly seeking mentors and those who can volunteer overnight.

Tabor House volunteers play a crucial part in helping vulnerable guests rebuild their trust and feel safe after a period of homelessness. As a volunteer, you need to have understanding and empathy as well as a friendly and approachable manner to help guests feel at ease. Above all you’ll need a genuine desire to help people improve their lives. To find out more about the specific roles, please come and talk to us.

To find out more, come along to our open evening: Wednesday 2 October, 6pm – 8pm at St Anne’s Training Room, 96 Bradford Street, Birmingham B12 0PY.
