Young at Heart events and services


Young at Heart clubs run in Cross Heath, Hanley, Kidsgrove, Meir Heath, Abbey Hulton, Tunstall and Hartshill, offering the opportunity to socialise over a hot drink or a light lunch, meet new people and take part in a range of activities to improve your health and wellbeing. The project also offers telephone befriending.

Our groups

Abbey Hulton Young at Heart group, Breathe New Life Church, Leek Road, Abbey Hulton, ST2 8BY

Upcoming 2023 dates: 6th July, 20th July, 3rd August, 17th August and 31st August and fortnightly afterwards on a Thursday afternoon. 
Time: 10am until 1pm
Fee: £3 per session
Features entertainment, activities or a guest speaker. Hot snacks available (not included in the session cost).

Cross Heath Young at Heart group at Cross Heath Methodist Church, King Street, ST5 9HQ

Upcoming 2023 dates: 13th July, 27th July, 10th August, 17th August, 31st August and then every other Thursday
Time: 11am until 1pm
Fee: £3 per session, including snack
We have either activities or a guest speaker along with refreshments and biscuits.

Guitar group, Sacred Heart R C Church, 13 Queen's Ave, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 6EE, also live streams via Zoom for people who cannot attend in person
Every Wednesday
Time: 1pm until 3:30pm
Fee: £10 per month (includes streaming via Zoom)


Hanley Young at Heart Luncheon Club, Sacred Heart Community Centre, Jasper Street, Hanley, ST1 3DB
Upcoming 2023 dates: 10th July, 24th July, 7th August, 21st August, then every other Monday.
Time: 11.45am until 2.30pm
Fee: £4.00 for 2 courses

The Hanley lunch club has been awarded a food hygeine rating of five out of five.

*New* Informal Singing group, St Johns Welcome Centre, 30 Greasley Road, Abbey Hulton, ST2 8JE. 

Time: Every Saturday from 2pm - 4pm                                                                                                                                                    If you have a passion for singing and want to do it with other people in a social setting, come and have a cup of tea and make a merry tune. No experience necessary, everybody welcome. Contact Alex on 07467 062139. £2 per session including refreshments.

Kidsgrove Friendship Club, Kidsgrove Town Hall, Liverpool Road, Kidsgrove, ST7 4EL

2023 dates: 25th July, 29th August, 26th September, 31st October and then the last Tuesday of every month
Time: 2pm until 4pm
Fee: £3 per session
We have either entertainment, activities or a guest speaker along with refreshments, biscuits and bingo.


Meir Young at Heart group, St Francis Church, Sandon Road, Meir, ST3 7LH

2023 dates: 11th July, 25th July, 8th August, 22nd August, 5th September and then every other Tuesday thereon. 
Time: 2pm until 4pm
Fee: £3 per session
We have either entertainment, activities or a guest speaker along with refreshments, biscuits and bingo.

*New* Hanley Men's group, Harley's Café Hanley

Upcoming dates: 14th July and then weekly on a Friday morning. Stay as long as you want sessions.

Time: 9.30am                                                                                                                                                                                                Fee: Cost of breakfast in the café                                                                                                                                                              Meet together and chat with likeminded men. All ages welcome.

Community Allotment group - TBC

All of the venues are fully accessible, but if you would like assistance or transport to help you attend please call Young at Heart on 01782 269990.

Telephone befriending service - due to restart accepting referrals August 2023

Young at Heart’s telephone befriending service offers companionship and support for people who are socially isolated for a variety of reasons. Volunteers call people once a week for a chat or to simply keep them company.
