COVID-19 Update from Father Hudsons Care

Community projects

We work with community groups to help develop their projects and services that meet local needs, such as Anawim and Maryvale.

Father Hudson’s Care works with community groups and independent charities to develop projects and services that meet local needs.

The projects that we currently work with are:

Anawim – supports vulnerable women across Birmingham who are involved in the criminal justice system to make positive changes in their lives.

Brushstrokes – supports disadvantaged people in Sandwell by providing practical resources and English classes and reaching out into the local community.

Community sponsorship for refugees – community-led projects that give power to local people to resettle a refugee family in their neighbourhood.

Fatima House – provides safe shelter and support for female asylum seekers facing destitution.

Hope – helps vulnerable and isolated people in Wolverhampton through outreach work, English classes and support groups.

Maryvale – provides social opportunities and befriending for older and disabled people in North Birmingham.

Sophia House – offers safe, welcoming and supportive accommodation to female refugees at risk of becoming homeless.

St Chad’s Sanctuary – offers a warm welcome, practical support and English lessons to refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.

Tabor House – provides homeless people in Birmingham safe shelter and friendship alongside support to move off the street into more permanent accommodation.

Young at Heart – offers services for older people experiencing social isolation across North Staffordshire.

In some of these, Father Hudson’s became involved at the invitation of the parish or community group and in others we identified a need and worked with local people to research and develop services.

Father Hudson’s Care has enabled many of these local projects to grow, eventually to become independent charities in their own right. Even then, we continue to help them as required as they move forwards.

We provide assistance in many ways, such as recruiting staff and volunteers, budgeting and training, assistance with funding applications, researching and developing local projects, fundraising and marketing, and much more.

As well as the above, we provide support for the Heart of Tamworth, Kairos in Coventry, North Staffs Linkline and the Pastoral Care Project, and we are involved with Caritas Archdiocese of Birmingham.
