Father Hudson’s Care works in schools across the Archdiocese to provide support to children and families. Many schools also carry out vital fundraising in support of our work.
We welcome opportunities for intergenerational work with schools. Our Young at Heart project in Stoke and St Joseph's Care Home in Coleshill particularly value the opportunity to bring students and clients together to break down barriers and learn from each other.
Family Support Service
Our Family Support Workers provide outreach work to children, young people and families who are experiencing difficulties. Through home and school visits, they work with the family to identify and address underlying problems, and will advocate on behalf of the family to ensure they receive the support they need.
Primary Schools
Schoolchildren have helped raise funds for us from our early days and this remains one of our most important sources of income. Primary schools throughout the area take part in our annual Good Shepherd Appeal to raise money so that we can continue our work helping people in need.
We have also produced classroom material to help children engage with Catholic social care and the Catholic virtues.
Senior Schools – Walk a Mile
Walk a Mile in their Shoes is an initiative for senior schools that incorporates fundraising with education and spiritual concern for those in need. We focus on a different theme each year to help raise awareness of the particular issue as well as showing young people how their donations can help us to improve people’s lives.
