We are courageous
With all the changes in social policy and social need, it would have been tempting for the Trustees to say that the time had come for the organisation to end. However, their reaction to constant change has been to seek out the best ways of meeting the new needs of those who are most vulnerable.
We are prophetic
Our services have changed and developed constantly, and the Trustees have not been afraid to become involved in work that some might consider challenges popular opinion. The value and dignity of people with dementia, profound disabilities, asylum seekers, refugees, and women involved in the criminal justice system is not universally recognised, but Christ’s command to love is not limited by popular opinion or prejudice.
Through all this change our mission has become enriched.
We continue to work with children and families through our Family Support service in schools, our Fostering services, and our support to adoptees and their families.
We have substantial services for older people, especially those who have dementia and for adults who have profound disabilities; providing residential, day care and community services.
Asylum seekers and refugees, women involved in the criminal justice system, young people at risk in the community; all of these receive the benefit of a professional and very caring service.
We do not forget
Through our Origins service we continue to support those who were in our care and who were affected by adoption, emigration or who lived in the former children’s homes.
We are open to all
Christ’s command to “love one another as I have loved you” underpins all our work, without favour or discrimination. Inspired by a hundred years of Catholic social teaching and the gospel of Christ, Father Hudson’s seeks to create places of welcome, support and care for those whose dignity as children of God has to be recognised.
Our desire to develop new services for those in great need is only limited by funds, not by our ambition to help.
We are professional
Our commitment to professionalism in our staff and our services is recognised by Ofsted and the CQC in the regulated services, and by many awarding bodies in the community projects.
We are prudent
Every attempt is made to be financially prudent, in order that the services we provide will not be short lived or disappear as long as the need is still there.
The governance and staff seek to find ways of delivering a service that embodies the underlying Catholic ethos of the organisation. Any temptation to offer less than people deserve, or have a right to, is resisted.
We go the extra mile
And further! The staff and volunteers are driven on by a desire to provide the best possible service at all times.
