Care to Ride

Care to Ride was a sponsored Bike Ride on Monday 3rd May 2010 ( Mayday Bank Holiday). This exciting ride was largely off road along forest tracks and bridle paths around Cannock Chase. There was a choice of two routes, 23+ miles or 13 miles. There was a small entry fee and whilst there was no minimum sponsorship we asked that participants try to raise £50 ( or more!).

This ride followed on from the hugely successful 5 day 250 mile Hudson Way Bike Ride in 2008. (To read about that ride click here)

Care to Ride  started at the Treetops Centre (just a few yards from Swinnerton Cycles Forest Centre), Birches Valley and   took in the Chase Heritage trail, Marquis Drive, passing Kit Bag Hill and Horse Pasture pool.
Then along the bridle path through picturesque Beaudesert golf course, past the Cannock Chase museum and on to Rawnsley Hills.
Over Brindley Heath and Badgers Hill, close to the War Cemetery and into Brockton Coppice passing the oldest tree on the chase, down to Stepping Stones and by Seven Springs and finally back to Treetops, where a warm drink and cakes awaited the riders and their families

.

Care to Ride was supported by GIANT and Swinnerton Cycles Forest Centre (bikechase.co.uk), who donated the prizes,  and a brand new Giant Mountain Bike was the main prize in a free draw for all participants.

106 riders took part in the event and so far over £6000 has been raised!

Thank you to all the participants, helpers and sponsors for making this event such a success!
