Tracing and Contacting Family Members
What assistance do you give with tracing family members?
We can provide you with advice on how to go about tracing family members. Priority is given to assisting those who were formerly in our care or who were child migrants and, in some instances, the agency will also undertake to do the search. This applies particularly to former child migrants who are living abroad.
Once found, do you assist with getting in contact?
We will act as intermediary and facilitate contact and reunions once a relative has been found. This may lead to a renewal of contact, e.g. mother and child or forming a new contact, e.g. brothers and sisters who had not previously been known to each other. The facility to exchange letters via the agency is offered and a venue for a first meeting, if required. Support is available also for the relative who has been found.
Do you provide tracing services for former friends?
This service is not extended towards reuniting former friends. However, contact details will be filed, to be made available if the former friend should also contact the agency.
Is there a charge for this service?
The Society receives no government funding for this area of work and relies on donations.
