Parish Community Projects

The Vision

If a Parish Community is driven by a vision to serve the wider community there is enormous potential to transform an area.

A Parish is in a position to recruit very committed volunteers who have a rich variety of skills, experience and talents.

A Parish often has a Community Hall or Centre, which may not be being used for much or is just let out to generate some income. With some refurbishment it can become a lively and well used base for many activities, events, groups and courses.

The Parish priest and active members of the parish are in an ideal position to network with other Agencies, professionals, groups ,Churches and other Faith groups .Health professionals, and Social Care staff are just as concerned about the lone elderly as a Church may be . Working together multiplies the benefits to those who have needs. The same is true of other groups who have unmet needs or are disadvantaged.

The Church often has a particular concern for those groups who are the victims of prejudice or who may receive very little statutory support.

Parishes can take a lead in responding to the needs of these groups –fighting for justice, supporting those who are destitute.

Partnership

If you have this vision and want to move it forward, Father Hudson’s Society can assist. We have experience of supporting Parishes in this way. Maryvale and Christ the King Parishes, both in Birmingham, approached the Society so that we could work together,
Father Hudson’s Society is happy to start small and build up patiently.
