The Day Service is located in a single storey building in Coleshill. Since the service first opened it has become well established and known to the town of Coleshill. Most of the people who come are wheelchair users and the Centre is planned to give maximum flexibility to meet individual needs.

People attending the Centre travel from local areas, including Birmingham, Solihull and Warwickshire. Around 35 people use the Centre every day as their base from which to follow a range of interests and activities.

Each person has an individual programme designed to suit their needs and interests, with the emphasis on individual choice.

Activities

Daily activities include art and craft, sensory activities (tactile, audible and visual stimulation), simple cookery, living skills, sports and fitness. We have the services of visiting professionals: a team of communication therapists, an art tutor, a music tutor and we have forged links with Solihull Technical College and Stonehall Adult Education Centre. Clients are encouraged to access the local and wider community, with visits to the cinema, bowling, pubs, garden centres and sports centres, the local shops and library

Owing to the complex and often specialised needs of those who attend the service, a high level of staffing is provided which is also well trained and experienced. In addition obtaining NVQ’s 2 & 3 staffing at the service also receive training in communication techniques, sensory stimulation skills and other key areas aimed at supporting the wide range of varying needs.
