New Routes Fostering Project
New Routes is a small voluntary fostering project set up in 1992 in Coleshill, Birmingham, by social workers from Father Hudson’s Society. We are registered with Ofsted and we had an overall ‘outstanding’ report following our inspection in January 2008, furthermore Father Hudson’s Society has an Investor in People award.
The New Routes team consists of a family placement manager, a team leader, 5 social workers and a 1 full time administration assistant.
All of the social workers professional experience combined provides well over a 100 years experience, which includes children and families, probation, counselling work, adult care, child protection and mental health work.
The role of the project is to provide high quality foster homes for children and young people aged between 6 to18 years old, who are presently accommodated (in the care of) the Local Authorities. We work in partnership and cooperate closely with social workers from the placing Local authority and any other professionals involved. We are committed to achieving positive outcomes for all children and young people placed within our project For example; staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, achieving economic wellbeing and making a positive contribution.
The children and young people who require a home in our project have often experienced serious issues or problems and we, therefore, expect our carers to be skilled and experienced in child care, as they may have considerable demands placed upon them from time to time.
Fostering is a tremendous commitment. We value the carers we have working with us and this is reflected in the training, support and competitive fees we offer.
