Adoption Support
• Father Hudson’s Society can respond to post adoption enquiries from its own adopters. The experienced adoption team staff can offer support in post adoption situations.
• A social worker within the team offers specific adoption support in response to post-adoption referrals from families who have adopted through the Agency in the past.
• Father Hudson’s will continue to offer a range of training and workshops. The training and workshops aim to build on the material covered during the preparation process, supporting adopters in their parenting as they manage the implications of their children’s past experiences. External training events are also accessed as appropriate.
• Adopter’s support groups are established These take the form of monthly coffee mornings/drop-ins, plus other events and get-togethers as appropriate.
• There is a combined picnic on the Coleshill site for all adoptive families, every summer, and a Christmas/New Year social event.
• Adopters themselves have their own informal networks to offer anything from a listening ear to an opportunity to meet.
• An established letterbox scheme operates.
• Father Hudson’s Society can assist adopters with accessing the post-adoption service offered by Adoption Support (formerly known as West Midlands Post Adoption Service WMPAS), which is based in Birmingham. This service can offer help in a range of post adoption situations.
