St.Catherine’s Bungalows for people with learning and physical disabilities.
The 3 bungalows opened in March 2002 to care for 16 people and were purpose built replacements for St Catherine’s and St. Michael’s which opened in 1986. All bedrooms are en suite and spacious. Each one has been individually furnished and decorated to meet the needs and interests of individual residents.
A homely atmosphere welcomes all visitors to St Catherine’s. The design of each bungalow is open plan which makes it easier for people using wheelchairs to move around. People can move easily between their bedrooms the lounge and the kitchen dining area. Small group living encourages a family feel. Everyone is actively involved in making day to day decisions which affect them.
Father Hudson’s Society has been caring for people needing high levels of support for over 20 years. St Catherine’s is well established and enjoys very good relationships with the town of Coleshill. The Commission for Social Care Inspection, which regulates and inspects our work considers the service we offer to be “excellent”. A recent report by the Commission for Social Care Inspection quoted one parent as saying “the staff and the care that they give is always excellent”.

We believe strongly that regardless of a person’s disability, he or she has the right to enjoy life to the full, to have the opportunity take part to some degree in all aspects of life and to take responsible risks to enable them to make the most of their lives
St Catherine’s Staff
The people who work at St Catherine’s are enthusiastic about what they do. We encourage all our carers to continue to develop professionally regardless of how long they have been with us. There is a wide range of experience skills and abilities which combine to meet the needs of the people living at the bungalows. They undertake training which makes us better at what we do and further enhances the quality of life of the people who live at St Catherine’s.
Activities
Each resident enjoys a holiday every year and occasional weekend breaks and days out. These are chosen by the individual resident and his or her Keyworker. A Keyworker is a member of staff who has specific responsibility for one particular resident. Regular shopping trips, visits to the cinema etc are all part and parcel of life at St Catherine’s. Following the last inspection by the Commission for Social Care Inspection, our regulators, the inspector wrote “….service users continue to be able to take part in a broad range of value and fulfilling activities. These include cinema, meals out, walks, theatre and food shopping”.
